Receipt, Treatment & Temporary Storage

Our hazardous waste storage facility is officially licensed for the receipt, conditioning, treatment, and temporary storage of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Our licensed storage capacity of several hundred tons, along with our treatment throughput and operating hours, ensure that recycling and disposal are carried out reliably at all times.
Our waste catalog covers nearly the entire spectrum of hazardous waste types according to the AVV directory, with nearly 1,000 active disposal certificates. The only exceptions are radioactive waste and infectious medical waste.

Classification and Batch Formation

All waste, whether liquid, solid, or pasty, is systematically classified, analyzed, and grouped into appropriate batches at our facility. The result is optimal preparation for downstream recycling or disposal that meets economic and legal requirements.

Research and Development

When developing new recycling processes, we rely on collaboration with universities as well as our own research and development in Bremen.

Special Expertise: Fine and Hazardous Dusts

A core area of expertise at Nehlsen Berlin-Brandenburg is the professional handling of fine-grained, hazardous dusts. This waste stream places particularly high demands on process engineering, emission control, and occupational safety.

Our facility is equipped with specialized silo systems for temporary storage, a high-capacity big bag filling station, and a mixing and agglomeration plant for formula development and conditioning. Among other things, we process:

  • Filter dust and fly ash from waste, hazardous waste, and industrial incineration plants
  • Boiler ash, grate ash, and separator residues
  • Metal dusts from the steel and metal industry (blast furnace, converter, sintering, and secondary metallurgy dusts)
  • Electrostatic precipitator and fabric filter dusts from power plants
  • Residues, sludges, and process and reaction dusts from the chemical industry
  • Formulation development for underground disposal (UTD) as well as for landfill classes DK I, II, and III
  • Conditioning for specialized incineration plants

Process optimization and waste prevention

Beyond traditional waste disposal, we support industrial and plant operators in optimizing process engineering facilities, particularly incineration and treatment plants. By specifically adjusting operating parameters, material flows, and plant technology, we reduce the generation of hazardous waste right at the source. In this way, we increase plant availability while simultaneously lowering our customers’ disposal costs.
