We support the “Mission Orange” project as an official partner in order to achieve a common goal: a clean and liveable Bremen. Through active education and year-round support for committed citizens, we want to work together with Die Bremer Stadtreinigung to create a new awareness of how to treat our beautiful city.
“For years, 'Bremen räumt auf' has been encouraging many people to actively support the city of Bremen by collecting rubbish together over two days a year,” said Insa Nanninga, CEO of Bremer Stadtreinigung. ”This was a very special project that we put our hearts into and we would like to continue and develop it. In the future, the topic of sustainability will be given more emphasis. Of course, cleaning up together with the citizens of Bremen will remain an important part of the project, but we also want to do more educational work, be active all year round and thus achieve a long-term change in behavior,” Nanninga continues. ”Ultimately, it would be best for all of us if we had to pick up less rubbish every year because something positive has changed in the way we treat public spaces in our city.”
The joint mission for Bremen has three core objectives:
A sustainable change in behavior through constant actions and information that create awareness for the correct handling of waste in public spaces and urban cleanliness.
The aim is to establish a network of dedicated initiatives, associations and companies in all districts of Bremen working on the topics of urban cleanliness and sustainability.
Collection initiatives, for example, can register with DBS and receive collection equipment. The message is to be spread across the board and over the long term in Bremen through as many multipliers as possible.
Increased education, especially for children and young people, as part of digital environmental education measures and learning content.
This is to ensure that the “next generation” learns the right behavior from the ground up and actively engages with the topics of correct disposal, sustainability and waste avoidance.
